How Can Immunotherapy Help Your Allergies?
Allergy shots (also known as Immunotherapy) are a treatment used to relieve allergy symptoms of hay fever (itchy eyes/nose, congestion, runny nose, sneezing) or allergic asthma (chronic cough or wheeze) by administering injections of substances such as pollens, mold spores, dust mites, animal dander or insects to which an individual has been found to be allergic to by skin testing.
Our process involves desensitization to allergic reaction triggers over time. Although it requires time and patience, the payback can be long-term, medication-free relief!

Your Own Body’s Healing
A Two-Phase Approach to Building Immunity
Phase 1: Build-Up Phase (6-9 Months)
We give increasing doses of allergy injections once or twice a week until a predetermined target or “maintenance” dose is achieved.
Phase 2: Maintenance Phase (3-5 Years)
Once this maintenance dose is reached, shots are usually administered every 2-4 weeks over the several years of treatment.
A Research-Backed Approach
Allergy shots have shown to decrease symptoms of many allergies. It can prevent the development of new allergies. The effectiveness of allergy shots is related to the length of the treatment program as well as the dose of the allergen. Many of our patients are experiencing lasting relief!
This Stuff Works
Benefits Of Allergy Shots
To understand the benefits of allergy shots, you will need to understand how you get an allergy. Your immune system is set up to make antibodies to threats to your body. Sometimes it makes antibodies to things that are not threats, like food or pollen, mold, dust, or other types of allergies. Once you have antibodies to anything, your immune system then recognizes that threat and creates something called the antigen/antibody reaction. The antibody marker is on a cell wall, and when it recognizes an antigen something you have made antibodies to; it causes the cell to release strong inflammatory chemicals that cause inflammation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Allergen immunotherapy, also known as allergy shots, is a form of long-term treatment that decreases symptoms for many people with allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, conjunctivitis (eye allergy) or stinging insect allergy.
Allergy shots decrease sensitivity to allergens and often leads to lasting relief of allergy symptoms even after treatment is stopped. This makes it a cost-effective, beneficial treatment approach for many people.
Rarely, in about 1-5% of people, the patient may experience mild localized reactions and generalized (systemic) reactions. These reactions necessitate a dosage adjustment.
Not long at all! Though we do require a patient to remain in-office for 20 minutes after the procedure to monitor for possible reactions.
